Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) are healthcare providers who work with Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to improve the quality of care they receive and increase patient satisfaction.
Be assured, your provider’s participation in an ACO does not change your Medicare benefits. Patients always have the freedom to choose their physicians. Physicians choose to participate in an ACO. They aren’t mandated by CMS to do so.
How does an ACO help my doctor coordinate my care?
When your doctors—like your primary care provider, any specialists you’re seeing, and any other specialists you may need to see—are part of a coordinated team, it’s easier to expedite care and ensure everyone has the insight they need to provide the care you need.
All of your doctors will not only know about the health issues they’ve treated, they’ll have a more complete picture of your overall health through.
