A mission to explain Medicare

Medicare is an important benefit available to people 65 or older and people with a disability. This is health insurance provided by the federal government. It’s a “fee-for-service” program. That means you pay a fee for basic healthcare services as you receive them.
When you enroll in Original Medicare (that’s Medicare Part A and Part B), you can access a range of medical services from preventive care to hospital stays. But when and how do you enroll? How do Parts A and B work with Parts C and D? Get answers to these questions and more by downloading our New to Medicare Guide.
